The comb generator PG10 generates pulse trains with a maximum repetition rate of 2.56GHz.
An external clock signal between 480MHz and 2.56GHz is needed to provide the time base for operation.
Two different operation modes are available, that can be selected via the instruments USB-interface:
In frequency divider mode the instrument generates output pulses according to the input clock frequency divided by one of the dividers /1, /2, /4, /8, /16, /32, /64 , /128, /256 or /512.
In PRBS mode pulses are generated according to the pseudo random binary sequence of length 2n-1
with n= 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11.
The comb generator provides short negative output pulses with a fixed pulse width ≤30ps and minimal phase variation.
